Apparently I’m Catholic

When an IFBer emails me I never really hear anything new. This time I learned that I’m Catholic and that I’ve never been to an IFB church. I had no idea about that. I’ve lived my whole life and never knew that I was Catholic or that I’ve never experienced the IFB before. ??

Enjoy the latest exchange from Marisol

Someone who would go to this length of writing so many articles against an organization whether it be of God or not displays a lot of hatred and bitterness toward the IFB movement. They are not perfect people, just like anyone else but to go to this extent shows you have some major issues against them. I am sorry they hurt you, I know what you speak of they are judgmental but they have helped me so much in my walk with God that other churches seem trivial to me to attend. NO 1 church will be perfect and you will not find a perfect church. Men are not perfect, but these people the IFB take the Bible seriously because it is a serious thing to help turn people to Christ. I think you need to soul search and forgive them for whatever they did to you, especially if there is one person in particular that hurt you to cause you to go to this length to discredit their church. You are only going up against God, they are highly protected of God in the IFB churches, I have seen first hand how God protects his people. God Bless!

Rolling my eyes and snickering a bit, I decided to respectfully write back with my usual requests…

Hi Marisol,

Thanks for writing.  I think you’ve misunderstood my intent behind the website.  I have a feeling you missed a few things.  I know there’s a lot of information so it’s understandable.  Please begin here: where I answer the “you’re just bitter” retort (as you might be able to guess from the article I get that a lot and I mean A LOT!).

Also, please don’t make assumptions about me.  You don’t know me or what I’ve been through or what I’ve done already to forgive and soul search and heal.

Finally, I take the Bible seriously also and I resent the implication that I don’t.  The IFB doesn’t have a monopoly on taking the Bible seriously.  Even if they did, taking the Bible seriously is a bit of a waste if no one is going to church to hear that seriousness don’t you think?

I don’t expect anyone to be perfect, but I do expect that the IFB should expect other Christians to hold them accountable.  They aren’t above reproach simple because they “take the Bible seriously” and bear the title “IFB”.  Don’t even get me started on that logical fallacy.

If you want to have a discussion then please read through my website carefully to make sure you at least try to understand my perspective and then please point to something SPECIFIC that you think is wrong and we can talk further.

I’m happy to reconsider a position I hold, but if you find that you can’t resist the impulse to tell me how wrong I am, then please don’t write again.  I will entertain constructive feedback, but I will NOT tolerate unfounded castigation.

I bet you can guess what happened… The true Marisol came out raging…

Whatever! That is what I have to say to you!

Your website is on a public domain and the very fact that you are telling me not to write again displays your hatred. I will comment on whatever I please, because I have the right to do so in Jesus name. I can tell you were never really an IFB member and your war against them will lead to nothing good for yourself. You actually sound like a Catholic who is trying to pose as having been an IFB member to turn people away from God’s true people. The Catholics hatred and attempt to infiltrate God’s churches has been happening for centuries. You don’t fool me and believe me when I say, you don’t fool God either. He watches and sees and knows your heart and your true intentions whether you are His child or Satans. Satan has been trying to kill and hurt God’s people for a very long time now. It’s not news to the IFB’s.

If you’ve been following me for a while, it’s not really difficult to predict what comes next.

Hi Marisol,

I’m not sure what I said to make you so angry, but thanks for being a shining example of the judgmental attitude and contempt so prominent among the IFB.  Your defensiveness serves to demonstrate your closed mindedness and your words only serve to confirm my desire and calling for this website.

I’m glad God knows my heart since He’s the one who called me to this ministry.  The trail of hurting and betrayed Christians who are left in the wake of the abusive IFB is vast… it’s sad you can’t (or won’t – I’m not sure which) see it.  If you would trade just a tiny bit of your condescension and judgmental attitude for empathy you might have a softer response.

Your one chance to “reach” me has passed.  You don’t seem interested in reaching people but only perpetuating the abusive extra biblical traditions and teachings of the IFB cult.  I do not wish to be exposed to your abuse.  As such, I’m no longer interested in what you have to say.  Please stop harassing me.  My website might be public domain, but you’re not welcome to email me or contact me again.  Please leave me alone.  In order to protect myself and my visitors, your emails will be blocked and you are banned from commenting on the website.

This is the link where your abuse will be exposed for anyone who is interested in reading it: I pray that those who read it will be warned in enough time to avoid you and your ilk.

I’ll say it over and over again until I have no breath left in me… Don’t let the IFB bully you or shame you. Stand up to them and set clear, firm, strong boundaries. The reason I share these email exchanges is because I want folks coming out of the IFB cult to have an example of how to set boundaries and what to say. You’re welcome to emulate me as long as you need to in order to practice.

I give everyone one chance to interact with me appropriately. As soon as I see their spiritual narcissism come out, I’m gone. No second chances. As I told Marisol and countless others who have come before her… I don’t expose myself to abusive people. It’s part of my self-care strategy and I’ll not compromise on it and you shouldn’t either.

  1. Thank you for speaking the TRUTH on this. As someone who was in the IFBC for the first 16 years of my life, I can more than relate to what you speak of. I was both sexually and spiritually abused by the pastor and principal of one of the churches I was part of, and they truly are EVIL!! Marisol sounds like an IFB plant, trying to gaslight you and others into thinking they’re not saved, because you don’t believe THEIR version of the Bible.

Hi Steve, thanks so much for standing your ground with Marisol.
His final reply to you really does show IFBers true colours!!
They seem to become very aggressive when shown the truth about themselves.
Do you think Marisol is a secret Catholic?
    Keep up the good work,

  3. Well done Steve!
This cultic practices & abusive, mind-control attitude & behavior of IFB people MUST BE STOPPED ONCE & FOR ALL!.
I pray that more & more people will come out of this & will find a genuinely loving & caring place where they can serve our Lord & Saviour in Spirit & in Truth! (John 4.24)
Have a blessed day & please continue your very needed discernment ministry!
